Welcome to WikiProject Webcomics! This is a project for the discussion and improvement of Wikipedia's articles on webcomics (including webtoons and other comics published mainly through the internet). We rely on webcomics enthusiasts worldwide, so if you are interested in participating, please get involved.
Scope
[edit]This project is dedicated to providing information on internet-based comic strips, or webcomics. The scope of this project may extend to other fields, such as webcomics in print, animation or video games inspired by webcomics, and people related to the webcomic community/industry.
This project will often overlap with WikiProject Comics, as well as several other related WikiProjects, such as Websites, Internet Culture, Blogging, Animation, and Animanga.
How to join
[edit]Add yourself to the list of participants by going here! You can also:
- add the main project page (this page) to your watchlist.
- put the {{User WikiProject Webcomics}} userbox on your user page.
- join Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics.
As of April 2020 we have 7 members, plus there are about 29 active editors who listed themselves as members of the previous Webcomics Work Group. You can see a list of participants here.
What you can do
[edit]Talk page
[edit]The talk page is the best place to go for any general questions or requests you might have, especially if you can't see another place to take it.
Starting articles
[edit]- If you think a webcomic topic needs an article, be bold and make it.
- If you'd like some advice on whether a subject is notable, or anything else about starting an article, make a post on the project's talk page.
- You can also make a draft and then get a review of the draft before turning it into an article proper. See Wikipedia:Drafts for more details.
- If you want a suggestion of an article to write, go to the Requests page and see what people are asking for. As examples, people have asked for articles on the following (with some suggested sources):
- Fredo and Pidjin (req. pre-2015-08-13) [1] [2]
- ChemScrapes – Chemistry themed cartoons drawn by Brendan A Burkett (link to details)
- Shing Yin Khor (The Center for Otherworld Science) (link to details)
- And if you want to request that someone else write an article on a subject, the Requests page is the place to ask.
Improving articles
[edit]- All articles related to the project should have a quality rating. See the "Tagging and Assessment" section below for lists of articles by quality. This will help you find articles that are in need of improvement.
- If you would like suggestions on what to work on, project members have identified these articles might be important to improve next:
- Solo Leveling (2nd-most popular article in the project, but only at Start-quality)
- Wise Man's Grandchild
- Lore Olympus
- Molly Ostertag
- Sprite comic
- You may find the list of popular pages useful in choosing which articles to improve.
Reviewing articles
[edit]- After people have written or improved articles, they can ask for reviews of their work. This page is the place to ask for reviews and find requests to do. Some oustanding requests include:
Deletions
[edit]- This page is a list of proposed deletions of webcomic articles. Check this page and add your thoughts to the discussions.
- If you feel a webcomic article should be deleted, follow Wikipedia:Deletion policy.
Other work
[edit]- Recruit other participants. The long-term success of this project depends on adding new editors, not just to grow but to replace people who leave over time. If you know of anyone who might want to join, such as seeing users who are actively editing webcomic articles, please let them know about this project.
- We are particularly keen to have more members who are fluent in Korean or Japanese, to help improve several popular articles for webcomics published in those languages.
- Check this automatic list of recent changes to webcomic articles, to ensure the changes are of good quality; also check the automatic list of Recent changes to relevant talk pages.
- Keep the page Wikipedia:Webcomic sources up to date.
- Nominate new articles for "Did You Knows" see Wikipedia:Did you know for details on what this is and how to nominate an article
- If you can think of anything else that this project should be doing, add it here!
